Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding the piano in her attic, and getting enthralled by the sounds the instrument produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music. It was not for a job or as just a pastime, but in order to grow. To do this she started writing her own new compositions. Alongside Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. She began performing their songs in public after her mom suggested it could aid people in to not become famous through the work she does, but to help those around them see their importance and the ways they could impact the world. As a young girl, she began to play on the piano. When she turned nine was writing music. It wasn't known to her family about it until she reached fourteen. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. As she says, she simply enjoys writing songs. According to her, music is her favorite way of feeling anything.
